ATM Excite Work Packages within Civil-Military Cooperation

The ATM-EXCITE project is structured into six interconnected work packages (WPs), each addressing specific goals and activities essential for the successful development and deployment of innovative solutions in civil-military interoperability and air traffic management.

Project Management

Leader: Euro-Funding EU Projects Sociedad Limitada (E-F)
Duration: Month 1 – Month 30

  • Objective: Ensure efficient management, coordination, and quality control of the project.
  • Key activities:
    • Monitoring progress, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
    • Establishing governance structures and facilitating effective communication across the consortium.
    • Managing finances and reporting to the European Commission.
    • Developing and implementing the Data Management Plan (DMP) aligned with FAIR principles.

    • Identifying safety, security, and interoperability standards for airspace management tools.
    • Preparing detailed descriptions of solutions based on stakeholder feedback.
    • Evaluating solutions against the identified requirements.

  • Objective: Design and conceptualize the foundational principles for the proposed ATM-EXCITE solutions.
  • Key activities:
    • Developing conceptual designs and architectural blueprints.
    • Conducting feasibility studies for solutions such as ADS-B verification, encryption mechanisms, and multi-agent simulations.
    • Establishing proof-of-concept models for validation.
    • Documenting technical specifications and ensuring compliance with operational needs.

  • Objective: Explore synergies among solutions and propose integrated architectures.
  • Key activities:
    • Analysing the complementarity and interoperability of solutions.
    • Evaluating usability through operational testing with human-in-the-loop assessments.
    • Identifying technological and technical constraints to guide integration.
    • Defining a high-level system architecture and data integration framework.

  • Objective: Assess the societal, environmental, and technological impact of the project’s solutions.
  • Key activities:
    • Reviewing current and future regulations from ICAO and EU frameworks.
    • Evaluating cybersecurity and security threats to ATM-EXCITE solutions.
    • Conducting ethical impact assessments.
    • Developing key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure solution effectiveness.
