The ATM-EXCITE project reached a major milestone last week. We proudly attended the New Trends in Aviation Development (NTAD) 2025 conference. Our partner, the Technical University of Košice (TUKE), hosted this important event. It took place from November 27–28 at the Grandhotel Starý Smokovec in Slovakia.

A Hub for Aviation Innovation

NTAD is currently in its 20th year. Therefore, it is a key international forum. Experts use this space to discuss the future of air traffic management (ATM). Furthermore, the 2025 edition focused on modern challenges. These included digital transformation and safety in shared airspace.

Consequently, this was the perfect stage for ATM-EXCITE. It allowed us to align our goals with the European aviation agenda. Moreover, it helped us start conversations with industry leaders.

Showcasing Civil-Military Interoperability

Stepan Alexa from UpVision represented our team. He gave a strong presentation on our project’s mission. Specifically, he focused on advancing security in shared airspace.

During the session, the team highlighted three main areas of our research:

  • Enhanced cybersecurity: We are building robust tools like SEALD and ADVERMA. These systems prevent data spoofing. As a result, they ensure the integrity of surveillance data.

  • Civil-military coordination: We are developing the SIMCOM simulation model. This tool validates coordination between civil and military operators. Thus, it ensures safety without reducing mission effectiveness.

  • Digital trust: Finally, we promoted the ANYSKY platform. This establishes a verifiable digital trust framework for all users.

Why It Matters

Participating in conferences like NTAD 2025 is vital for our success. It allows us to test our technical approaches. Additionally, we can gather feedback from stakeholders. This ensures our solutions meet the needs of the Single European Sky.
