ToggleThe ATM-EXCITE team recently touched down in Madrid for an exciting week. We participated in the 14th EASN International Conference (EASN 2025). This event is a cornerstone for the European aeronautics community.
Consequently, it was the perfect place to showcase our progress. Our coordinator, Euro-Funding Europe, represented the consortium. They were on-site to discuss how we are advancing civil-military airspace security.
Furthermore, the conference provided a platform to connect with industry leaders. In this post, we share our highlights and key takeaways from the event.
Connecting at Stand 521
Our presence centered around our exhibition space on the Second Floor, Stand 521. Here, we presented our latest work on EU-funded research. Specifically, we hosted two dedicated poster tours on October 14 and 16.
These sessions were incredibly productive. Experts from across the aviation sector stopped by. We engaged in deep dives regarding the future of airspace security.
Moreover, even on days without official tours, the conversations continued. We enjoyed one-on-one discussions about enhancing aviation cybersecurity. The feedback we received was insightful and encouraging.
Key Takeaways and Trends
Beyond our own stand, the team explored the wider conference. We soaked up the latest research and innovations. Three specific areas impressed us the most:
AI in Surveillance: We observed a growing focus on AI. Specifically, how it enhances air traffic surveillance accuracy.
Secure Data Exchange: Experts discussed digital trust frameworks. This is vital for secure communication between civil and military entities.
Simulation Models: We saw next-generation models for complex airspace management. These tools align closely with our own objectives.
These discussions were valuable. We are already planning how to integrate these fresh perspectives into the ATM-EXCITE project.
Fueling the Digital European Sky
Collaboration fuels progress. Therefore, events like EASN 2025 are essential. They help us build a safer and more efficient Digital European Sky.
We return to our work with renewed enthusiasm. The diverse perspectives we heard have sparked new ideas. Ultimately, this strengthens our research into civil-military coordination.
We would like to thank the organizers for a well-managed conference. Additionally, a big thank you to everyone who visited our poster.
