On 11 November 2024, ATM-EXCITE participated in the SESAR AI Flagship Workshop, held at Spazio Europa in Rome, Italy. Representing the project consortium, Jakub Karas (UPVISION) joined aviation experts, researchers, and stakeholders to examine how AI in Air Traffic Management can strengthen aviation safety, cybersecurity, and operational efficiency.
AI for the future of ATM systems
The workshop highlighted the increasing role of AI in Air Traffic Management, with discussions on predictive analytics, automation, and cyber-resilient infrastructures. Key objectives included:
Promoting collaboration within the SESAR aviation research community
Presenting real-world use cases of AI for improved ATM operations
Aligning AI integration with the Digital European Sky roadmap
This event provided valuable insight into how artificial intelligence is reshaping decision-making and surveillance systems in airspace management.
SESAR Innovation Days 2024: Continuing the conversation
The SESAR AI Flagship Workshop also set the scene for the SESAR Innovation Days, taking place from 12–15 November in Rome. ATM-EXCITE is proud to continue contributing to the conversation on AI in ATM, with a focus on cybersecurity, data protection, and civil-military coordination.
